Description

Manual handling is monitored under HSE regulations. Handling incidents provide a threat to the well-being of staff. There are various risk factors which can exacerbate injuries related to manual handling.

This includes: the weight of the item being carried, the numbers of times it must be picked-up or put down, how far it needs to be carried, the place it is being picked up to/put down from. (Being place on a high shelf, picking up from the floor.)

Additionally, risk factors in manual handling include awkward postures and dangerous motions, such as bending or twisting.

Manual handling training can effectively prevent injuries in the workplace. This reduces time-off required and the possibility of companies being sued or shut down.

Musculoskeletal disorders, which include injuries often caused by manual handling accidents, contribute to one third of work-related illnesses. This manual handling training is taught at our Daventry site and only takes half a day to complete.
