We are committed to growth and development here at Plantool, continuously encouraging learning and development to help employees reach their full potential. Part of our efforts to develop our team whilst supporting the local community is with the apprenticeship scheme we offer. On that note, we are delighted to report a success story that spans back over a decade!
Aaron, our Assistant Workshop Manager started with Plantool 11 years ago as a Construction Plant Maintenance Apprentice, when he was only 16 years old. Aaron was trained under the watchful eye of Workshop Manager Dave Smith for three years in our Daventry depot, with a fourth and final year of guidance in the workshop before working as a full-time Fitter in Nuneaton. Aaron says the hands-on learning was the best part of his training, ‘working on a variety of equipment was definitely the best part of my apprenticeship, alongside learning a variety of new and different skills. It was great to be doing something different every day.’
This hands-on training and insider knowledge set him up with the perfect expertise to later become our Assistant Workshop Manager, whilst also making him the perfect candidate to train one of our next rising stars!
Jamie, 17, is six months into his training, currently undergoing the same three-year Construction Plant Maintenance apprenticeship as Aaron all those years ago (sorry Aaron!) His studies will see him learning about the wide range of equipment we have to offer including small tools alongside plant and access. Like Aaron, Jamie is enjoying the hands-on approach to learning, ‘learning new skills whilst making new friends is definitely the best part of college.’
Throughout his studies, Jamie will be privy to valuable industry resources as well as learning with the most up-to-date pieces of equipment available, setting him up for a successful career at Plantool.
We understand that further education might not be the best route for everybody, which is why we offer our apprenticeship scheme as an alternative option for people looking to learn new skills whilst earning. As a provider of IPAF, PASMA, and IOSH training programmes, our apprentices have access to the highest quality training programmes in the plant and tool hire sector, whilst benefiting from the knowledge and guidance of our trainers such as Aaron and Dave.
Manager Director Ben Jones is the driving force behind Plantool’s apprenticeship scheme, ‘we recognise our staff contribute to our success every day here at Plantool, and that includes our apprentices. Our apprenticeship scheme gives young adults the chance to gain insider industry knowledge and develop specific skills that can translate to a long and successful career with us.’
Alongside our apprenticeship scheme, we also feel it is important to support other local companies that too are investing in their local student community. We currently have an offer available for delegates and their apprentices who wish to attend any of our training courses. Any delegate wishing to bring an apprentice to a Plantool training course will be able to bring the apprentice for half the price. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills alongside helping your apprentice gain new knowledge too. You can claim the offer here: https://hirecentres.com/content/38-special-offers
